They truly believe that paper prices are being manipulated. Isn't it interesting to contemplate the differences between reality and perceived reality, especially when the decision is ultimately in the customer's hands? http://www.billprintbroker.com/?p=1131BillRueschhttp://www.google.com/profile/williamrueschnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6615285628064623043.post-51344103745676924052009-06-05T03:11:35.280-10:002009-06-05T03:11:35.280-10:005 of 10 brands sold by Sappi in the US aren't ... 5 of 10 brands sold by Sappi in the US aren't made here. They finally curtailed/shut their non-integrated mill in Michigan and just added the M-Real European coated paper assets.

Can you say "need to show synergy?"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6615285628064623043.post-63193625791813197142009-06-05T02:23:51.107-10:002009-06-05T02:23:51.107-10:00Pretty sure it's too much domestic supply. Combine that with the black liquor tax credit and trailing pulp prices (still high) and we have entered the phase where all non-integrated mills will have to shut. However this hasn't actually happened yet.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06156524322257950115noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6615285628064623043.post-23558805754593564462009-06-03T04:24:22.646-10:002009-06-03T04:24:22.646-10:00Are there really too many mills in North America? ...Are there really too many mills in North America? Or are we buying more and more paper overseas? Seems to me that printers are buying less and less of the domestic sheets and more of the foreign sheet. I am not sure there are too many mills in North America, as much as perhaps there is too much buying of foreign sheets.
