Folio: Magazine Honors Donahoe As Innovator

Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe was named today to Folio: magazine's "2012 Folio: 40" list of the magazine industry's "most innovative and distinguished professionals."

The Donahoe article, published online today and to appear in an upcoming issue of the magazine, cited Donahoe's "continued commitment to magazine media, while also remaining steadfast on the realities surrounding the challenges the USPS is combating."

Donahoe has reassured publishers that the U.S. Postal Service won't try to solve its financial problems by jacking up their postage rates, the article said. He's trying instead to cut costs, it added, by reducing the number of employees and postal facilities and by eliminating Saturday delivery.

  3. PUKE! The only thing I can think of is puke. This man helped run our postal service into the ground. There's something fishy here. He'd rather keep giving publishers discounts and dirt cheap rates while putting thousands out of work and cutting off rural customers. He and his cronies are the only ones making out on this fiasco. We just want our post offices back.

  4. If the postmaster would give incentives to the WORKERS instead of his LAME Managers, then he would get some great IDEAS how to get us out of this mess'''

  8. Let's see, he took a viable service -oriented business with 600 million in profit in 2006 and has overspent by nearly 6 billion each year not counting Congressional mandates and wants to fix it by cutting service, cutting craft employees, increasing management pay-for-performance and bonuses all while blaming the actual workers who touch the mail? Anyone see something amiss?

  14. No surprise he received an award from the magazine industry for promising not to raise rates on Periodical flat size pieces. Just a few days ago, Periodical flats were identified as one of the unsustainable product lines or "under water products" USPS supports. Periodical rates don't cover the costs for processing Periodicals. But, the PMG refuses to raise rates.

  15. If Periodicals were being handled efficiently, they would be above water. That is, the costs being attributed to them are not the costs caused by them.
